McGregor: UFC 200 ‘bombed’ without me

Conor McGregor was originally scheduled to headline UFC 200 in a rematch with Nate Diaz. McGregor was infamously removed from the card after refusing to take part in his contracted media duties. The fight was rebooked for UFC 202.

UFC 200 went off without McGregor and featured some big matchups including Jose Aldo versus Frankie Edgar, Miesha Tate versus Amanda Nunes, and Mark Hunt versus Brock Lesnar. On paper it was a great card, but performance wise the fights were lackluster.

Speaking about UFC 200, Conor McGregor went as far to say it ‘bombed’ without him on the card:

People spend a lot of money to come see me fight from my hometown, and they had already purchased tickets, so I wanted to get back on that card,” McGregor told the magazine. “They weren’t having it. They didn’t put me in the card—that’s okay—and the card bombed. I was ringside. The fights weren’t great, but now here we are.”
