UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor got roughed up and tapped on Saturday night, by lightweight Nate Diaz, at welterweight. The Irishman made clear that he now plans to return to 145. However, he now plans to fight either Jose Aldo or Frankie Edgar. Both are angling loudly on social media for the fight.
Given how much size McGregor put on training for this fight, and his past difficulty making 145, that could be problematic.
Another view of the weigh in, and his latest ink.
145 is the plan however, and after defending his title, McGregor has an eye on moving up again.
I am not forgetting about the 155-pound division, said McGregor to Mike Bohn for MMAjunkie. I am certainly not forgetting about the 170-pound division.
I haven’t stopped in a long time,. It’s been a crazy couple of years. I’ve only been here a couple years and I’ve climbed all the way. But I’m still enjoying it; I’m not tired of it. Going back down the featherweight division I imagine what will be is what next. I still feel UFC 200 is still there for me. I’ll go back and see it. I’m not cut, I’m simply heartbroken and that’s it. We’ll pick it back up and figure it out in the morning.
