McGregor explains why he will fight in the Octagon again
Conor McGregor: “It’s an unusual feeling when the elbow bone digs into the temple. It’s a nasty little one. It’s something I enjoy.”

When Conor McGregor made his UFC debut in 2013, he was highly motivated, in part perhaps because he was so poor he was on welfare. On August 26 he may make $100 million. There are genuine questions as to whether he will ever fight in the Octagon again for a paycheck of $10-15 million. It could take the then 29-year-old until the end of his UFC career to total the MayMac payday.
However, on Tuesday on Tuesday in Los Angeles, McGregor vowed he would fight again.
Look, I love a true fight, said McGregor, as transcribed byDamon Martin for MMAWeekly. Elbows, knees, shin bone, you ever bounce a shin bone off a nose bone? You ever dug an elbow into the temple? It’s an unusual feeling. It’s an unusual feeling when the elbow bone digs into the temple. It’s a nasty little one. It’s something I enjoy. It’s something I love to do.
So I look forward to going back to MMA and have a true fight after this.
Maybe rematches and all will be in there. We’ll see. I’m not forgetting my mixed martial arts training. I always focus on my kicking game, I always focus on my grappling, I always focus on my wrestling. On occasion, I do a little bit of boxing.
The rematch reference is to Nate Diaz; the trilogy fight is waiting. Other possibilities include Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson, Georges St-Pierre, and even potentially Justin Gaethje. However, before he fights in the Octagon, McGregor is on record as saying he wants equity.
