In May of 2016, Floyd Mayweather’s team floated the idea of a boxing match with Conor McGregor. 16 months later on August 26, it will happen. That’s lightning compared to how long it too Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao.

The media tour is international, and begins today, as Mayweather and McGregor come face to face for the first time and they square off at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The four-city, three-nation, four-day trip promises to generate a river of trash talk.

Conor McGregor has the greatest straight left in mixed martial arts, maybe in combat sports, but he is better still at getting under his opponent’s skin. In an interview two years ago, Notorious referenced his method.

Expect McGregor to highlight Mayweather’s issues with the IRS, his father, and the ex-wife that boxer served time for beating. And that’s for starters. Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor, billed as The Money Fight and The 180 Million Dollar Dance, will take place on August 26, 2017, at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. The rest of the card will be held under boxing rules, and will not feature any more MMA figure vs. boxers match ups.

McGregor is the biggest pay per view television draw in mixed martial arts history. Mayweather is the biggest pay per view television draw in history. McGregor will likely make over $70 million, and Mayweather perhaps some multiple of $100 million.
