Mayday: I’ve been abstinent for 3.5 years

UFC bantamweight Michael McDonald, 22, appeared recently on KMRQ Rock 96.7 radio show. Host Bueller asked McDonald about abstaining from sex during camp, and “Mayday” offered a startling response

Bueller: Do you cut sex out before a fight?

McDonald: I’ve actually been abstinent from sex for about 3 and a half years now.”

Bueller: So he’s gonna kick some ass! This is why you’ve been on such a tear!”

McDonald: It’s very arguable.”

As McDonald’s professional career started in October of 2009, that puts the start of his celibacy back to near the start of his entire career.

McDonald fights Urijah Faber at UFC on FOX 9 on December 14. If what he said was not in jest, he presumably has very strong legs.

If he beats Faber, do you think it could start a trend?
