Melvin Manhoef has 43 MMA fights, and only four went the distance. It is a safe bet that the just-announced fight with former Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko will not go the distance, and will be exciting.

Manhoef’s third fight in five months will take place at Bellator 125 on Feb. 13 in Fresno, California.

You take Melvin Manhoef and Alexander Shlemenko, two fighters with a combined 56 knockout victories between them, and put them in a cage, and you know exactly what you’re going to get, said Bellator president Scott Coker. These two fighters have both been known to stand in the pocket and trade bombs. This will be an absolute firefight, and we’ve got a number of other great fights planned for the card that we’ll be announcing very soon.

Both fighters are coming of shocking losses. Schlemenko, who succeeded Hector Lombard as the league champion when the Olympian moved to the UFC, defended his title three times, but lost it in 35 seconds to Brandon Halsey in September. Manhoef is coming of a KO loss to Joe Schilling in just 39 seconds of the second round.

Expect an exciting fight, and don’t blink.
