Manager: Phil Davis likely next opponent for Lyoto Machida

In an exclusive interview with Lyoto Machida and manager Jorge ‘Joinha’ Guimarães, it was revealed that Phil Davis is the likely next opponent for Machida.

Machida did not hesitate to comment on his ‘almost certain’ next challenge.

“It would be a classic match between styles,” said Machida. “Davis is a wrestler. I would have to adjust some aspects in my game. But this flexibility has always been one of my strongest characteristics. There will be no problem.”

Phil Davis is considered one of the most promising of the new generation of MMA athletes, exemplified by light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Davis was to have been the UFC 133 main event against Rashad Evans, but an injury a few weeks before the match forced him to withdraw. He is unbeaten in nine matches.
