Manager: Bellator contract is like slavery, won’t release Frodo

“It’s like slavery. It’s a one-way ticket. You go to Bellator, and there’s no way back. We just want to let him earn some money and continue his career. That’s all.”

Dagestani fighter Magomedrasul ‘Frodo’ Khasbulaev, 27, won the Bellator Season 8 tournament in April of 2013, earning a title shot. However, he was unable to get a work visa for the USA, and has been on ice ever since.

His manager, Rizvan Magomedov of Dominance MMA Management, spoke with John Morgan for MMAJunkie, and said that he wants Bellator to release the fighter.

They won’t release him, said Magomedov. I don’t know why want to keep him. I tried to reach the new president, Scott Coker. I sent him several text messages but never got a response. I don’t know why they want to keep him.

Bellator tried one or two times to apply for another visa, but after that they haven’t responded to us at all. So a while ago we asked Bellator to release him because we don’t see any logical sense why they’re keeping him. We know that he cannot come to the U.S. We just want to continue his career. The guy is young, and he wants to fight.
