Arguably the biggest trilogy fight in KSW history will headline one of the biggest events in MMA history as the legendary Mamed Khalidov (36-8-2) locks horns once again with the returning Scott Askham (19-5) at XTB KSW Colosseum 2 on June 3 live from the PGE Narodowy in Warsaw, Poland.
The pair both have monumental wins over the other, but now the final chapter in their story will be written on the grandest stage of them all.
At KSW 52 in 2019, Askham, who had built up a ferocious record of finishing fighters, scored a unanimous decision victory over Khalidov, dashing his dreams of a fairy-tale comeback out of retirement. A year had passed before the legend began feeling the hunger again, he felt there was still some fight left inside, and at KSW 55 he returned to rematch and challenge now champion Askham for the KSW middleweight title.
What followed was one of the greatest moments ever seen in MMA. A then 40-year-old Khalidov flew through the air to deliver a switch kick knockout to Askham in less than a minute. The knockout became one of the biggest viral moments in KSW history and was nominated for World MMA Awards.
Since then, Askham has been forced from competition due to a back injury but has been plotting his return since. With an extended camp at American Top Team behind him, the U.K. star is now set for his own comeback and is aiming to once again defeat the legend and rise back to the top of the middleweight division.
Over 25,000 tickets have already been sold for XTB KSW Colosseum 2, making it the biggest MMA event of the decade so far, and with over 60 days remaining, it is sure to make its mark in the history books.
The co-main event will feature a champ vs. champ KSW superfight, as lightweight champ Marian Ziolkowski (25-8-1) meets double-champ Salahdine Parnasse (17-1), who holds the interim lightweight and featherweight titles, to become the undisputed KSW lightweight champion, and five-time world’s strongest man Mariusz Pudzianowski (17-8) clashes with former WBC heavyweight contender Artur Szpilka (2-0) in a truly mega all-Polish spectacle.
XTB KSW Colosseum 2 will be available to watch June 3 live around the world on KSWTV.com and the KSW Aap and exclusively on Viaplay in Poland, the U.K., the Netherlands, Scandinavia, and the Baltics plus various broadcast parts globally.
Tickets are on sale right now from eBilet.pl.
