Maia vs. Masvidal to headline UFC Fight Night 108 Nashville

Cub Swanson vs. Artem Lobov was initially announced as the main event for��UFC Fight Night 108 on April 22, 2017, at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The general consensus was, “good fight, but not impressed as main event.”
Now Brazil’s Combate is reporting that the new main event will be Demian Maia vs. Jorge Masvidal. Although the bout is not official. given parent company Globo’s television deal with the UFC, Combate has a good track record on event announcements.
Maia is on a six-fight win streak, with submissions in three of his last four, and performance bonuses in two of the last four. He is the living embodiment of Jiu-Jitsu – calm and innovative and honorable and has been hit just 13 times in those last four fights. He hasn’t fought since August 27, 2016, and has been holding out for a title fight vs. the winner of division champion Tyron Woodley vs. Stephen Thompson on March 4, 2017, at UFC 209.
He is currently the #3 contender, and now appears resigned that there will not be a title fight. Masvidal is ranked #6 in the division.

Masvidal is on a three-fight win streak, most recently knocking out Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone. Prior to that he had gone just 1-3, with all three losses via Split Decision.
