Chris Weidman vs. Lyoto Machida has been blissfully free of the manufactured trash talk that preceeds many big fights. Thus it has fallen to their coaches to puck up a little slack.

In the red corner, Ray Longo.

“He’s going to get in that ring, he’s going to go forward, and he’s going to impose his will on Machida and he’s going to make Machida fight his game, and he’s probably just going to end up crushing the guy,” said Longo to Dave Doyle for MMAFighting. “There’s a good chance he just dumps him on his head and does what he wants with him.”

“I think (Machida’s got a real weak chin, I think that’s his biggest hole. Weidman hits his guy, he’ll hurt him bad. [Machida] likes to control the pace of the fight, I don’t think he likes to be pushed.”

And in the blue corner, Machida’s muay thai coach Rafael Cordeiro.

“You can’t say Lyoto has a weak chin. That’s a lie,” said Cordeiro to Guilherme Cruz for MMAFighting.com. “Lyoto fought and defeated bigger guys. He’s a world-class striker. He has the experience and the talent, and I say he will knock Weidman out.

“If Chris thinks he’s going there with that little hand and that he’ll simply take him down and lay and pray, he’s dead wrong. Lyoto will knock him out. When you fight the champion you have to dominate, leave no doubts.”

“We will make him go for the takedown. Lyoto is ready for this type of fight, and he has great counter attacks. I’m a coach for a long time, and I’ve seen great athletes in great fights, and I feel this is Lyoto’s moment.

“I won’t underestimate Chris Weidman, but Mousasi is tougher than him. Mousasi is a brawler, and Lyoto fought five rounds standing against him. Lyoto will go straight forward, going for the knockout. Lyoto will knock Chris Weidman out.”

So what do you think UG? Is Lyoto weak chinned? Who wins Saturday night? And whose coach is a better talker?
