MacDonald vs. Lombard targeted for UFC 186 on 4/25

Hector Lombard vs. Rory MacDonald at UFC 186 on April 25 at Bell Centre in Montreal is currently in negotiatons, with the winner presumably getting a title shot.

Top UFC welterweight Rory MacDonald was supposed to get a title shot at the winner of division champion Robbie Lawler vs. Johny Hendricks II, but that fight was so good, a trilogy fight is in the pipeline instead. It was not known whether MacDonald would wait for the winner of Lawler Hendricks 3, or not.

The answer is “not.”

Although no formal announcement has been made, Lombard vs. MacDonald at UFC 186 on April 25 at Bell Centre in Montreal is currently in negotiations.

Lombard is on a three fight win streak, over Nate Marquardt, Jake Shields, and most recently a game Josh Burkman.

MacDonald is also on a three-fight win streak, over Demian Maia, Tyron Woodley, and most recently Tarrec Saffiedine.

There is little question that the winner of the fight at UFC 186 has earned a title shot.
