Lyoto Machida lost to Chris Weidman Saturday night, but fought like a samurai in the fight of the night.

Shortly after the fight Machida gave an interview to Brazil’s Combate.com

“That was the most important,” said Machida. “I sought to fight until the end. I believed until the last second that I could knock him out, he could win. But I did not this time, right? On to the next.”

“I think it surprised me a bit, that he came very aggressive. But he do not put me in danger any time, so to speak. And my first round was more to study, to see how he would do. But that’s okay. That’s part of it. I have to go home, think about what went wrong and come back better. Maybe a little detail. I have to watch the fight. Let’s see.”
