When Dana White took over the UFC in 2001, one of the new UFC President’s first tasks was to scour the MMA backwaters searching for undiscovered talent to sign to the UFC. White hasn’t scouted talent in person for over a decade, but on season 1 of Lookin’ For a Fight, White, former UFC welterweight champion Matt ‘The Terra’ Serra, and buddy Nick ‘The Tooth’ hit the road to search for potential new talent.

On season two, White and Serra are joined by former UFC fighter and ATT coach Din Thomas. In the season opener the trio head to Maine, starting at White’s summer compound, accurately described by Thomas as “Disneyland for rednecks.” The group also take part in a demolition derby, a hot dog eating contest not won by the Italian American, drag racing, lobster rolls (reminds Thomas of a “big ass cockroach”), and more.

After all that, the guys check out a fight card that surprises them with its entertaining bouts and promising athletes where one fighter’s nose turned “upside down and inside out and folded to the side.” In the finals two fighters looking to be seen were seen and appreciated. Two fighters ultimately get a contract.

One of them, Devin Powell, fights Jordan Rinaldi on 15 January 2017 at UFC FIGHT NIGHT: RODRIGUEZ vs. PENN.

Next stop for Dana, Din, and Matt … welcome to Sturgis.
