Lombard wants Rory MacDonald next, for #1 contender spot
Hector Lombard: “I think Rory MacDonald makes more sense for me. It’s up to Dana, but I think that Rory, he’s not going to fight for the title, so I think that makes sense.”

Hector Lombard decisioned a gritty Josh Burkman at UFC 182. It was his third straight win since dropping to 170. Post fight “Showeather” said he next hopes to fight Rory MacDonald, with the winner getting a shot at the winner of the Robbie Lawler vs. Johny Hendricks rematch.
“I think Rory MacDonald makes more sense for me,” said Lombard as transcribed by Shaun Al-Shatti for MMA Fighting. “It’s up to Dana, but I think that Rory, he’s not going to fight for the title, so I think that makes sense.”
MacDonald had expected to fight the winner of Hendricks vs. Lawler 2, but the fight was so close that UFC president Dana White decided a third fight should be in the pipeline.
White appeared open to Lombard’s suggestion.
“I think he’s right,” said White. “He’s the number-six guy in the world, he could fight any of those guys. He could fight Tyron Woodley, he could fight (Matt) Brown, he could fight Rory. We’ll see what happens.”
