LAS VEGAS – LFA CEO Ed Soares announced recently that the promotion will kick off Red River Rivalry weekend and conclude its Texas tour in October. The tour allowed the promotion to return to the state of its inception with three action-packed events across three regions starting at the end of July in Belton (Central Texas), continuing in August in El Paso (Upper Rio Grande), and ending in Dallas (Metroplex) on the first Friday in October.
LFA 169 will feature a featherweight showdown at the top of the card, which will pit Texas and Oklahoma’s top 145-pound prospects against each other. This will be the 12th LFA event to take place in the city of Dallas, which is the city where the promotion hosted its first event. It will also be the 25th time that the LFA has traveled to “The Lone Star State” of Texas, which is the LFA’s most frequented destination.
LFA 169 takes place Friday, October 6 at The Factory in Deep Ellum in Dallas, Texas. The main event will feature a featherweight showdown between fan favorite Landry “The Lone Star Kid” Ward and Oklahoma standout Alfred “Freight Train” Walker. The entire main card will be available worldwide on UFC Fight Pass at 9 p.m. ET.
“We are excited to kick off Red River Rivalry weekend and conclude this year’s Texas tour in the city and venue where it all started for LFA,” stated Soares. “The main event of LFA 169 will feature top Texas prospect Landry ‘The Lone Star Kid’ Ward vs. Oklahoma standout Alfred ‘Freight Train\’ Walker in an MMA version of the Red River Rivalry. This will set the table for the annual Texas vs. Oklahoma football game that takes place across town the following night at the Cotton Bowl. Our Texas fanbase has been amazing, and we look forward to capping this year’s tour of the state at The Factory in Deep Ellum.”
Tickets for “LFA 169: Ward vs. Walker” are available for purchase through TheFactoryInDeepEllum.com.
Ward (8-1) is one of Texas’ most beloved fighters and fastest-rising prospects, which he pays tribute to with his well-known nickname “The Lone Star Kid.” The proud Fort Worth native made his professional debut in the city of Dallas and will be celebrating his four-year anniversary in the sport with the first LFA headliner of his career. This comes on the strength of a “Fight of the Year” nominated performance he made in his promotional debut at LFA 163. Ward defeated Matheus Pereira in an all-action war in July, which was also his first fight in the state of Texas in two and a half years. Texas fans were quickly reminded why he is the state’s fastest rising prospect and will now get to see him return home to the Metroplex at LFA 169.
Walker (11-6) is a modern day Renaissance Man with a life that involves being a professional MMA fighter, professional kickboxer, entrepreneur, business owner, promoter, trainer, role model, and motivator. However, on October 6, he will play the role of heel in sport’s latest iteration of the Red River Rivalry, which famously highlights competitions between Texas and Oklahoma. Walker is a native of Muskogee, Oklahoma and will proudly represent “The Sooner State” in hostile territory when he tangles with “The Lone Star Kid”. Walker earned this opportunity with an impressive resume that includes a KO win over former LFA headliner Solo Hatley Jr. as well as wins over LFA veterans Chuka Willis, Daniel Carey, and Derrick Adkins.
The current LFA 169 lineup includes:
- Landry Ward vs. Alfred Walker
- Elijah Johns vs. TBD
- Ty Johnson vs. Cortavious Romious
- Melissa Croden vs. Katharina Lehner
- Aaron La Farge vs. Alden Coria
- Kevin Fernandez vs. Joseph Camacho
- Jon Hanes vs. Marco Soto
