UFC welterweight Kyle Noke retired from fighting, following a loss to Omari Akhmedov via Unanimous Decision at UFC Fight Night 101 on Saturday night. The announcement came via the Australian’s social network.

Noke began fighting in 2002, and went 13-3-1 in his native Australia, beating Brian Ebersole, splitting fights with George Sotiropoulos, and drawing with Hector Lombard. He then began fighting internationally, going 3-1, before he joined the cast of The Ultimate Fighter 11: Liddell vs. Ortiz, in 2010.
Noke won the elimination round and the preliminary round, before getting decisioned by Kris McCray in the quarter finals. He then won his UFC debut in the event Finale. He would later return to the TUF series, this time as a coach opposite Patrick Cote, on The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia in 2013/2014.
While Noke began in the UFC going 3-0, he had three fights in 2016, going 0-3, and intelligently made the decision to retire at age 36.
Early in his career Noke worked in security guarding ‘Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin for three years. Noke also trained the enthusiastic Irwin in BJJ and MMA. When Irwin passed away in 2006, Noke returned home to do security work at Australia Zoo. However, he eventually decided to pursue a career in mixed martial arts, training at Jackson-Wink MMA in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Noke retires with a record of 22-10-1, with two UFC performance bonuses. Career wins include Sotiropoulos, Ebersole, Chris Camozzi, and Charlie Brenneman.
