Infamous street fighter turned mixed martial artist Kimbo Slice talked exclusively to our editor Matt Freeman earlier today regarding his time in the house and what he had hoped to achieve through appearing in the reality series.

Despite public perceptions, Kimbo (real name Kevin Ferguson) is an intelligent athlete who is dedicated to doing as well as possible in the fighting arena and the challenge was his main motivation. Dana White’s open invitation for Ferguson to enter the house was taken on for the calibre of opponents available, not to silence White.

“Dana wasn’t really the motivation for me to go into the house. It was the opportunity to fight high market guys, you know. I wanted to keep fighting,” he stated, looking to further his career after a quick loss in EliteXC to Seth Petruzelli.

“I could have gone to other organisations but no-one has the elite like the UFC. They got the top guys and they’re afloat right now. The UFC is the bible, you know. Everything came under it, all the other shows are knock offs.”

The tenth series showcases heavyweights and there are some experienced fighters in the house, certainly more so than Ferguson. Roy Nelson and Wes Sims alone have over fifty fights between them. This is the type of challenge he enrolled for, however, and he believes his attributes give him a good chance against anybody in there.

“I had a bullseye on me,” Kimbo stated of his high-profile coming into the house. “The other guys wanted to take me because of my lack of experience. You know, I might not be well rounded yet but I know enough that I can knock them the f**k out.”

Experienced or not, he is not afraid of getting in there and throwing down with anybody.
