At last. Undefeated lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will defend vs. former division champ Conor McGregor at UFC 229 on October 6 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The announcement was made by president Dana White at a press conference for the UFC’s 25th anniversary; neither fighter was in attendance. The move comes a month after McGregor cut a plea deal with Brooklyn prosecutors stemming from a hapless attack on a fighter bus Nurmagomedov was in; ‘Dolly’ McGregor was incensed that members of Nurmagomedov’s team had had words with SBGi teammate Artem Lobov. McGregor lost his belt when he decided to box Floyd Mayweather Jr and make over $100 million, instead. Nurmagomedov has a perfect 26-0 record.
