MIAMI – Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos showed off his skills at a media workout in Miami recently as he prepares to face fellow former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum headlining Jorge Masvidal‘s Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA on Friday, September 8 from VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. The event will stream live and for free on the Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA YouTube page.
Tickets for the live event are on sale now and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com.
Dos Santos and Werdum first met in the octagon in 2008, with Dos Santos blitzing Werdum in round one to earn a sensational KO that was recognized as the “Knockout of the Year.” Now both have signed lucrative multi-fight deals with Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA that will kick off with a bareknuckle rematch as Werdum looks for revenge, while Dos Santos looks to settle the rivalry in style.
During the media workout, Dos Santos declared his intention to score another sensational knockout over Werdum, this time with bare knuckles.
“The most important part of this fight are the bare knuckles,” said Dos Santos. “I’m ready to leave some cuts on Werdum’s face and knock him out!”
Dos Santos also added extra inspiration he felt working out at the famous 5th Street Gym, where boxing legend Muhammad Ali conducted training camp during parts of his career.
“I float like a butterfly and sting like Junior Dos Santos,” said Dos Santos, before displaying his own “Ali Shuffle.” “I know Muhammad Ali trained here back in the day, and I can feel that energy.”
