Women’s MMA pioneer Julie Kedzie was on a two-fight losing streak, but was signed by the UFC anyway, based no doubt on her nearly decade of excellence in women’s MMA. Kedzie lost her UFC debut at UFC on Fox 8, to Germaine de Randamie via split decision

Under the gun, the veteran now faces undefeated but inexperienced Russian fighter Alexandra “Stitch” Albu at UFC Fight Night 33, on Dec. 6, in Brisbane, Australia.

Headlined by Mark Hunt vs. Antonio Silva, UFN 33 will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 1.

Albu has competitive experience in karate, Judo, and bodybuildng. Starting with traditional karate, she earned a black belt, and became a Russian national champion, and bronze medalist at the European championship, through the IJKA (International Japan Karate-Do Association. Albu has also won a variety of Judo and grappling events.

Albu’s remarkable strength and conditioning comes through bodybuilding and powerlifting. She was a first prize trophy winner in the Moscow Open Championships, which led to a career in modeling.

She naturally moved from combat and stength sports to mixed martial arts, winning her first four events in Thailand, and the latest in Russia (see below).
