It’s been a rough 18 months for the buidling blocks of the UFC. Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture are done after suffering bad knockouts in their final fight. Matt Hughes may be joining them soon after falling to Josh Koscheck at the very end of the first round at UFC 135 in Denver, Co.
Just Liddell like did in his final fight against Rich Franklin, Hughes was more than holding his own. But when older fighters get popped with a good shot, they can’t take it like they used too.
Hughes was landing some good shots and targeting Koscheck’s right eye with some good jab, but everything turned when he absorbed some nasty right hands in the final minute of the round. Hughes eventually went down in the final seconds of the first. Koscheck jumped on top and poured it on. He landed two big hammer fists with five seconds left and Hughes went limp.
