The UFC Official Top-10 rankings has interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones as #1:
1 Jon Jones
2 Demetrious Johnson
3 Dominick Cruz
4 Robbie Lawler
5 Rafael Dos Anjos
6 Conor McGregor
7 Daniel Cormier
8 Jose Aldo
9 Michael Bisping
10 Frankie Edgar
However, the MMAjunkie Top 10 sees things a little differently:
1 Demetrious Johnson
2 Jon Jones
3 Dominick Cruz
4 Rafael dos Anjos
5 Conor McGregor
6 Jose Aldo
7 Daniel Cormier
8 Robbie Lawler
9 Stipe Miocic
10 Michael Bisping
?Johnson is on a ten-fight win streak, capped by crushing former Olympic gold medalist henry Cejudo. Jones’ sole loss was a DQ based on a foul, after which the referee asked a deaf fighter if he was OK to continue. You can make good arguments for either being the best Pound For Pound fighter in MMA, and Jones can see both sides.
I’m OK if people say it’s ‘Mighty Mouse,’ said Jones to John Morgan forMMAjunkie. I do look at ‘Mighty Mouse’ as a tremendous talent, but I know that I’m a tremendous talent, too. I know that I’ve done some amazing things.
Our stats are completely different, but we both have great stats. But I don’t mind sharing that space with Demetrious Johnson.
At the end of the day, people say, ‘Is Muhammad Ali the greatest? Is Floyd Mayweather the greatest? Is Mike Tyson the greatest? Is ‘Sugar’ Ray Leonard, ‘Sugar’ Ray Robinson?’ Whatever – it’s always gonna be up for debate.
Just a few years ago, everyone was saying Anderson Silva was the greatest of all times. And now, he’s not really. … I don’t lose sleep over the argument. At the end of the day, just being in the argument is tremendous, and I’m grateful to just be mentioned alongside the greats.
Jon Jones fights UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 200 on July 11.
