Jon Jones made a decision not tap when Vitor Belfort sunk an armbar on him in their UFC 152 title fight – even if the arm broke, he was not going to tap. He didn’t tap, but was seen wearing his arm in a sling days after the fight.

Now the details of the injury are finally known.

•A strained ligament in his right elbow was the diagnosis of a Los Angeles doctor who checked Jones out last week, according to Malki Kawa, Jones’ agent.

•”Jon Jones went to a specialist in Los Angeles last Monday to get another opinion on that injured arm of his,” said Ariel Helwani on Fuel TV’s Inside the UFC. “And basically the diagnosis is this: he has ligament strain in his elbow, but no surgery needed, no tears. He will need some rehab on the arm he was complaining of soreness, it was bothering him a lot, but he has a lot of time to rehab, but that’s the final diagnosis.”

•Kawa confirmed that the seriousness of the injury played a role in Jones’ decision to coach The Ultimate Fighter #14 opposite Chael Sonnen.
