UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones spoke recently with LA’s Power 106 radio about life lessons.
“I would say that through out my mixed martial arts career, the biggest life lesson that I have learned is the power of the mind,” said Jones. “How important it is to look at yourself with a high regard, and to believe in yourself. In order to paint a bright future for yourself you have to be able to see it in your mind. You have to believe in it. The more you believe in it, the more your world will start to change, and the more you’ll start to see your beliefs come to pass.
“So to answer your question, it’s self belief.”
“The biggest lesson I have learned as a father of four beautiful daughters is, I want to also say, belief. I teach my daughters all the time, just to believe in themselves wholeheartedly. Right now their self esteem and their confidence is sky high. It’s something that I think is taught – to believe in yourself. It’s something I preach to them all the time. I tell them how beautiful and smart they are, how amazing they are. I always assure them that they are bound and destined to do something great in this world.
“Right now my daughters feel they are extremely special. They feel as if they are unique. I pray that they carry that attitude along with them, and hopefully it will come to pass.”
