Jon Jones doesn’t like Rashad Evans, and that is why he wants ‘Suga’ to beat Phil Davis at UFC on FOX 2 this Saturday.
I’m picking Rashad Evans,” Jones said recently in an interview with FUEL TV. “I’m in his corner … I want to fight Rashad. He’s the antagonist of my career.
There’s no just pumping up pay per views when it comes to me and Rashad. Everything about us disliking each other is true. After we fight each other it’ll all be clear, and he can go have a seat somewhere.
Former teammates Jones and Evans ‘divorced’ last year, over what Evans perceived to be favoritism at former camp Jackson’s MMA. Evans went to Florida, became a “Blackzillian” and now has three wins a row, over Thiago Silva, Tito Ortiz , and Rampage Jackson.
Jones too won three in a row, in just nine months, stopping a murderer’s row of Shogun Rua, Rampage Jackson. and Lyoto Machida.
The only thing that kept them apart until now is mutual hand injuries. They were scheduled to fight at UFC 133, but Jones injured his hand. Then they were scheduled to fight at UFC 140, and Evans had to have his hand surgically repaired.
UFC President Dana White has said that Rashad is next in line if he beats Davis, and of course is uninjured.
Jones plans to make his next title defense at UFC 145 on April 21, 2012 in Atlanta, GA. Will it be against Evans? The first step is Saturday night. Second step – no injuries.
Among other future possibilities is a superfight with Anderson Silva. People do want to see it,” acknowledged Jones in the same interview. “My job is to fight the best fighters in the world. If the UFC asks me to do it, I’ll do it.
