UFC 200 was supposed to be Jon Jones’ chance at redemption and to become the undisputed lightheavyweight champion. He was scheduled to fight Daniel Cormier, who had previously beaten, but had become champion in Jones’ absence.
On his return, Jones won the interim title by defeating Ovince Saint Preux, but he would still need to beat Cormier to solidify the title.
Unfortunately for Jones, he failed a drug test prior to UFC 200 and was pulled from the fight. At the time, it looked as though Jones would likely face a fine and long suspension. However, today Jones made a post on Instagram hinting that things might be going his way and he expects to be back in the Octagon ‘soon’:
According to Jones in a new post on Instagram from Sunday, it appears he’s certain that the situation surrounding his failed drug test will be resolved sooner rather than later and he hopes to fight again in the very near future.
I’m sure you guys are curious about what’s going on with this USADA situation. Obviously, I can’t get into it because it’s still pending but what I can say is that we have found out lots of really good news and I am expecting to be back in the Octagon really soon.
Jones made the message as a thank you to his supporters who have stuck by him after this latest setback that prevented him from regaining the light heavyweight title in a rematch with Cormier in July.
