UFC strawweight JoJo Calderwood had the biggest win of her career on Saturday, doing what neither Joanna Jedrzejczyk nor Claudia Gadelhacould – stopping #5 ranked Valerie Letourneau. Salaries for the event have not been released, but Calderwood is believed to have made 12/12, plus $2,500 in Reebok money. It is her only fight in 2016. She fought twice in 2015, winning a $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus in the process.

This time the Fight of the Night bonuses went to Steve Bosse and Sean O’Connnell.

Calderwood trained for the event at Tristar in Montreal, 3,000 miles from her home in Kilmarnock, Scotland. And she has to eat.

So back taxes and expenses out of the $26,500, and this Instagram makes sense.

Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone’s last fight he made 79/79, and it was a win, so his purse was North of that this time. Plus he won a $50,000 performance bonus. Thus his compensation was undoubtedly over $200,000. However, at the post fight press conference, he said ” according to my pay I don’t mean s*** to the UFC. But we’ll see – going to talk to Dana after this and figure that out.

Cerrone’s issues may not be sorted, but Calderwood’s apparently are!

On the debut episode of UFC Unfiltered, UFC president Dana White said Calderwood will get a bonus after all.

“She will be bonused for that fight,” said White, as transcribed by Dave Doyle for MMA Fighting. “There were so many good fights that night, people were going crazy, ‘how did she not get [a bonus],’ and it’s true. Me and Lorenzo were saying, how the hell did that skip us, she should have got a bonus.

“In that 115-pound division, you don’t see finishes, the way she finished Valerie. And, Valerie went five rounds with Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Joanna didn’t do that to her. We’re going to take care of her, and we’re going to sign her to a new deal.”

Calderwood has come through some personal issues, which are now behind her.

“The reality of it was, for the last year plus, we didn’t know if that girl was ever going to fight again, so, to put that in perspective,” said White. “This girl at one time was one of the hottest prospects in the 115-pound division. … It looks like she got through that, she’s in a stable camp, and we’ll take care of her.”
