Johnson: Hopefully I can run through Benson
Michael Johnson: “I definitely feel that I have a stand-up striking advantage against [Benson Henderson], and he doesn’t really use his wrestling anymore.”
Michael Johnson is currently on a four fight winning streak and ranked sixth in the division. He is hoping that his next win is over a former champion and can propel him into a title shot:
“I just think it is a good fight, and he won’t run,” Johnson says.
“My last couple of fights, my opponents ran from me and that makes it hard to finish a fight. I definitely feel that I have a stand-up striking advantage against Henderson, and he doesn’t really use his wrestling anymore.”
Whoever you’d pick to win, all fans can agree that a Henderson vs. Johnson fight would be a great one, with title contender implications. Johnson, who is in Fairfax to do promotional work for the UFC, tells us that he’s optimistic the fight will get done.
“I think so,” he says.
“We are looking at a date. Hopefully I can run through Benson and get to the top of the division.”
