Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger retires at age 31

Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger began fighting as an amateur in 2010 and went 4-2, winning the amateur Tuff-N-Uff strawweight title before turning pro in 2012. She went 6-1 as a pro, winning the vacant RFA strawweight championship, and was signed by the UFC late in 2015. There she lost decisions to Tecia Torres and Randa Markos, and most recently was submitted by Nina Ansaroff in the third.

Now she has decided to retire at age 31 to spend more time with her wife and step-children. The announcement came via her social network.

“Family, friends and fans, first of all I want to say thank you so much for all the love and support,” she wrote. “It’s something I can see and have felt throughout out my career and I’m very thankful for it all. I have been doing what I love for almost nine years now and I can promise you I gave it everything I had. Tonight I’m so excited to announce my retirement from fighting. I’m ready for what’s next. I’m ready to be with my wife and kids, to be the best wife and most of all to be the best
