The Nevada State Athletic Commission this week handed down a nine-month suspension and an $833 fine to one-time Bellator Fighting Championships veteran and former pro boxer Jessica Rakoczy. Rakoczy admitted to taking one-half a Percocet for back pain the night prior to an Oct. 9 fight with Jennifer Scott at a local event, MMAXplosion.

She told the commission she took the pain pill after a sleepless night caring for her young son, Kizer said, and forgot to inform commission doctors on fight night.

“She was very apologetic and contrite at the hearing,” said Kizer. “The commissioners appreciated that. What bothered them most was when she got to the arena that night, she didn’t tell the doctors there that, ‘Hey, I had to take a pain pill this morning for my back.’

“I think when her suspension is served, there won’t be any issues getting her licensed.”

One-time Bellator Fighting Championships veteran and former pro boxer Jessica Rakoczy (1-3 MMA, 31-3 Boxing) has failed a post-fight drug screen administered by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and now faces a potential suspension of her license.

MMAjunkie.com learned of the failed screen from NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer.

The failed screen is the first by a female mixed martial artist in Nevada.

According to NSAC records, Rakoczy tested positive for the banned painkillers Oxymorphone and Oxycodone following her Oct. 9 win over Jennifer Scott under the Las Vegas-based MMA Xplosion banner.

Rakoczy earned the victory via second-round TKO when a bloodied Scott was ruled ineligible to continue after absorbing 10 minutes of pinpoint strikes from Rakoczy.
