JDS is the second happiest man in MMA
Junior Dos Santos could be the next one in line for a title shot since he already has a first-round KO win over the current UFC heavyweight champion, Fabricio Werdum.

Junior Dos Santo was an eager fan watching the main event of UFC 188. Despite still being the second ranked heavyweight, it would have been tough to sell a fourth match with Cain Velasquez had he emerged victorious at UFC 188. Fortunately for Dos Santos, Fabricio Werdum came out on top and he could now find himself right back in the title picture:
Exhausted and mentally beaten, Cain Velasquez hastily tapped to a guillotine choke in round three during UFC 188 against Fabricio Werdum.
In doing so, he handed his 265-pound title to Werdum (20-5-1), who will return to Brazil as the undisputed champion. And speaking of Brazilians, there is probably no one happier than fellow countryman Junior dos Santos (17-3), who was at least two or three wins away from another crack at the crown.
And now?
He could presumably walk right in, unopposed. While “Cigano” was handily defeated by Velasquez in back-to-back title fights, he absolutely destroyed Werdum — by first-round knockout — when they first met way back in 2008. And outside of his trilogy with Cain, Junior remains unbeaten in UFC.
This is matchmaking 101.
