This will be Israel FC’s first event and will feature multiple UFC veterans inlcuding Jeff Monson, Frank Trigg, Ricco Rodriguez, Hermes Franca, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, Daniel Gracie, and Shonie Carter.

Ricco Rodriguez:

“I didn’t make the desired weight, but I think I paid him really well. I did the right thing to pay him, so I think the exchange was quite fair. I gave up around 20% of my purse, and it’s a big amount. He prepared to fight a Light Heavyweight, so I have to compensate him. I had staph, helped out to Tito and was in hospital for five days. I had to cut 30 pounds, but again, I consider myself a professional, so in my eyes I did the best thing.

I didn’t have an opportunity to train like I want to, but I think it’s once in the lifetime opportunity to fight in Israel. I didn’t want to disappoint the fans no matter what the circumstances are.”

Daniel Gracie:

“I’m a small Heavyweight, so I felt like 205 would be the best place for me. I feel like not only my Jiu-Jitsu, but my other MMA skills are better at 205, so that’s why I made a decision to cut down.

“My last fight was four years ago. But I know that when the first sweat breaks out, everything will come back and I will feel in a perfect shape. I’ve been training very hard this whole time, so I’m not concerned about my shape.”

Jeff Monson:

“I weighed 107 kilos. Not sure what it means but I feel really good. My opponent is a big guy, but I fought big guys before.”

Weigh ins: Ricco Rodriguez misses weight by 10 pounds, forfeits 20% of purse

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ricco “Suave” Rodriguez failed to cut down to 205, weighing 215 pounds at today’s IFC: Genesis weigh-ins.

Rodriguez looked extremely exhausted, barely walking to step on the scales. Rodriguez’s manager Tiago Okamura revealed that Rodriguez weighed around 215 pounds, and said: “Ricco had a very tough time making weight because of the old injury that came back two days ago. He trained really hard. He also had a staph infection one month ago, so it’s not so easy to cut so much weight after a long recovery process. We settled the issue with Daniel Tabera and his camp, so the fight will go as planned.”

Rodriguez later revealed that he agreed to give up 20% of his fighting purse to Daniel Tabera

All other IFC: Genesis fight card participants successfully made weight for their fights, including the card headliner Jeff Monson, who weighed 234 pounds.
