Iaquinta aims to dominate not win performance bonuses
Al Iaquinta: “I’m not trying to put on exciting fights, I’m trying to put on dominant performances and shoot my way up to the top.”

UFC Joe Lauzon is the performance bonus leader in league history. That is not a record his opponent tonight Al Iaquinta has an interest in. Instead, he aims to dominate.
That’s not what I’m trying to do, said Iaquinta to Mike Bohn for MMAjunkie. I’m not trying to put on exciting fights, I’m trying to put on dominant performances and shoot my way up to the top.
(I’ll be) sticking and moving, using good footwork and it’ll be just like all my other fights. I’ll do whatever it takes to win. He presents a lot of problems on the feet, and if the takedown if there I’m going to grab it. I’ll box him up when I can, so it should be a good one.
He’s still a force to be reckoned with, for sure – it’s definitely motivating going in there against a guy everybody knows. He’s the fan favorite and people enjoy watching him fight. To put up a good performance against a guy like that, it shoots me up right where I should be.
Iaquinta came on The UnderGround and clarified that he indeed intends to put on an exciting fight, and further quite rightly pointed out that he does put on exciting fights. So does Joe Lauzon. So tune in tonight!
