Hunt: I don’t know a thing about Blaydes, though my coaches do
Mark Hunt: “Like I said, I don’t know him at all. I leave the watching of the videos to my coaches.”

UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt appeared recently on the great Submission Radio, ahead of his fight with Curtis Blaydes on Saturday night. #5 ranked Hunt faces #9 ranked Curtis Blaydes. When it was announced, Hunt didn’t even know who Blaydes was.
Well, I got it wrong the first time,” he said. “I posted up another guy, put him up, but it was the wrong guy. Look, at the end of the day I don’t know nothing about Blaydes or whatever it is. He’s number nine and I’m five. I was hoping for someone higher, the only one available was Werdum, but he’s a chicken bitch and I’ll get him later on down the line. We’ll get that number nine and put him away, so hopefully the UFC can give me someone higher instead of giving me someone beneath me. … Three fights left, this will be one of them, I got two left and then see you later.
“That will be the end of my career in the UFC. I have two fights left and that’s it. You know the path I’ve had with the UFC, it’s business. I haven’t done nothing wrong, I just don’t like to be treated like s*** – even if I’m an employee or whatever and I speak my mind about it and, you know, I’ll go from there. So like I said, three fights left and I’ll move on.
“I’m looking at going and fighting global fights for New Zealand, Australia and probably Japan. It depends on what happens. I’m still chasing the dream of that world title. I’m in a good position to get a finish in this fight, beat this guy, then move on to the top end. It’s not gonna be easy, but I’ll see what happens and hopefully I get next in line for the world title shot, go from there.
Hunt has been extremely vocal about PED users in the sport, and fought a series of fought violators – ‘Bigfoot’ Silva, Frank Mir, Brock Lesnar, and Alistair Overeem – in a row. Prior to the Lesnar fight he warned that Brock was dirty, and he was. However, anti-doping test results came back after the fight was over. In response, Lesnar sued the UFC. He welcomes Blaydes, who has never failed a PED test.
Anyone that doesn’t take steroids, I’m always welcome to fight,” he said. “I don’t like to sue anyone, but if you’re gonna cheat, the only way I can get back at you is suing your punk ass. So like I said, he’s new, he hasn’t been caught cheating, and that’s good cause I’m fighting all of these guys that are cheating. I mean, these guys, it’s not a fair advantage. The only way I can hit back, especially because the UFC don’t do anything about it and they say we put them through USADA all that rubbish that doesn’t make… they still get through. It’s not good.
We’ll see what happens with the fight. Like I said, I don’t know him at all. I leave the watching of the videos to my coaches. All I know is I’ll probably be at 110 kilos, 115 kilos (240lbs, 255lbs), and I’m gonna blast this guy off the universe, get him out of my space. This is my space.
I’ll give him the Blayde kick. He don’t know about the Blayde kick to the face (laughs). He don’t know about the Sonic Boom, Blayde kick. … I’ll give him the double tap, the right hand, double knee with a flip kick and then a sonic boom just to finish it off.
I don’t care who’s got the strap, whether it’d be Stipe or Ngannou. Once I get that shot and land a proper shot, they’re gonna get it. I’m gonna give it to them right in the lips.
Mark Hunt fights Curtis Blaydes in the co-main event of UFC 221: Romero vs. Rockhold on February 11, 2018, at Perth Arena in Perth, Australia.
