Rocky 1 famously ended with Apollo Creed telling Rocky There ain’t going to be no rematch.”

“Don’t want one,” replied an exultant but losing Balboa.

Mark Hunt vs. Bigfoot was more thrilling than any fiction, but it looks like there ain’t going to be a quick rematch, and maybe no rematch at all.

Firstly, as UFC president Dana White explained, Hunt is on the injured list.

“In that fight, Hunt broke his hand in two places, so he’s gonna be out for awhile,” said White. “No, there won’t be an immediate rematch. I’m assuming Silva is gonna want to fight again before Hunt is back.”

And in an interview with MMAJunkie’s Ben Fowlkes, Hunt said he doesn’t see the need.

It was pretty even, said Hunt accurately. I didn’t mind it being a draw. We still walked out of there and back to our families pretty much in one piece. It could have gone either way. There’s so many arguments you could make about who won the fight or who did more, but who cares? It was a pretty good fight.

So does Hunt want a rematch to decide once and for all?

Honestly? No, said Hunt. It probably wouldn’t be as good as the first one. It would probably end a lot quicker. So honest opinion, no. Why ruin a good thing?

I’m always going to think that I’m the best fighter in the world at the end of the day. I wouldn’t still be fighting if I didn’t think so. People might look at me like I’m stupid when I say that, but those are my thoughts, my opinions. I want to compete, and that’s why I’m still here, still doing this. I don’t care what anyone says.

Bigfoot too expressed similar sentiments in an interview with MMAFighting.

“Dana White said there won’t be a rematch, and I prefer this way,” said Silv. “I like Mark Hunt a lot, we used to train together, so I rather fight someone else.”

“I have no idea what’s next for me, though. I saw that Cain had a shoulder surgery and won’t fight for a long time, and I don’t know if Werdum will wait for him. It’s very confusing right now. I don’t know what to expect.

“Browne and Barnett are going to fight now and it’s going to be a great fight, so I’m open to fight anyone UFC wants.”

What do you think UG? Do you want to see a rematch? Or are you content with the extraordinary fight between Mark Hunt and Antonio Silva forever remaining a draw.
