#1 UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov is a devout Sunni Muslim. He regularly journeys to Mecca to pray, and abstains from pork and alcohol. During an interview with ToFight.ru, ‘The Eagle’ discussed a recent incident with a belligerent drunk in America.

It happened in a coffee shop.

“I had an incident in America, said Khabib, as transcribed by Karim Zidan for BE. When I was standing at the cash register, there is a drunken man bothering those who stood in front of him. He stood in front of me. When he came to me, I told him ‘Calm down, I’m a professional fighter.’

In the Caucasus, we do not talk and say I am a man, leave me alone. In America, I have to say it. Because if I fought there, then I would have to answer before the law. You could put me jail. I warned him, and he abruptly sobered up. I told him ‘I am a professional fighter. I can break your face. You have to calm down.’

When Nurmagomedov says you have to calm down, you have to calm down. Nurmagomedov is one of the best fighters in the world, and when he’s home, he has firearms. Lots of them. And big friends.

At 16.

And all grown up.

There are only a few inviolable rules in this life. Feel free to tug on Superman’s cape, spit into the wind, pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger, and mess around with your jimmy. Just don’t get drunk and pick a fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov in Dagestan. No good will come of it.
