Holly Holm vs. Valentina Shevchenko is in the works to headline UFC on FOX 20 on July 23, 2016 at United Center in Chicago, Illinois, according to a report on Wednesday’s edition of UFC tonight. Anthony Johnson vs. Glover Teixeira was also announced for the main card. Gilbert Melendez vs. EdsonBarboza was previously announced, also for the main card.
Holm is coming off a loss of her title to Miesha Tate; she beat Ronda Rousey for the UFC women’s bantamweight title in the fight before that. A world champion kickboxer, Shevchenko is coming off a decision loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 196; she beat Sarah Kaufman in her fight before that, which was her UFC debut. The native of Kyrgyzstan had been on a ten-fight win streak previously.
