Holm apparently next for Cyborg
Dana White: “It seems like she’s interested. I like Holly vs. Cyborg. I think it’s a good fight.”

In the strangest title fight in UFC history, bantamweight Holly Holm, who was 0-2 at the time, fought Germaine de Randamie who was outside the top ten at 135, for the inaugural featherweight title. Holm lost.
She bounced back with a win in June at bantamweight vs. Bethe Correia. And de Randamie fled the division when Cris Cyborg returned. At UFC 214 on Saturday night Cyborg, the best female fighter in MMA, won the vacated 145 women’s belt by beating game Invicta FC bantamweight Tonya Evinger.
The fight was originally scheduled with Invicta FC featherweight champion Megan Anderson, who was initially excited about the opportunity, but then withdrew, regretfully citing unnamed person issues. Perhaps those issues remain, as now Holm is apparently the #1 contender.
I’d like to fight Holly Holm, said Cyborg post fight, as transcribed byDamon Martin for MMA Weekly. I think she’s a great fighter and she’s a bigger girl like me. She’s fought already at 145 and I think all fans are going to like because she’s a striker. Let’s see that, maybe next.
UFC president Dana White said he spoke with Holm post fight, and she is game.
I was just talking to Holly Holm back there and what do you think Holly? It seems like she’s interested, said White. I like Holly vs. Cyborg. I think it’s a good fight.
First White has to sign a contract with Cyborg, who will be a free agent in a few months. He and Cyborg have had an often contentious relationship. However, prior to the fight she said all is forgiven.
It came after White conceded that month that mistakes had been made.
She’s had a rough go here in the UFC, said White. She hasn’t been thrilled with things that have been said, things that have been done. And to be honest with you, we’ve made some mistakes when it comes to ‘Cyborg.’ So the least we can do is get our s*** together and get this woman a fight for the title.
Cyborg expressed appreciation for White’s remarks after the UFC 214 open workouts.
It’s really nice when someone does a mistake and then say that, she said, as transcribed by Mike Bohn and John Morgan for MMAjunkie. A lot of people never say anything. I respect that. I think I can forgive him, but there’s a lot of consequences. There are a lot of things people say about me on the Internet, a lot of bad things I don’t want to remember now. But it’s hard to clean everything. But in time it’s going to change. He says he wants to change and work together. Let’s see. I’ll give it a chance and see how it’s going to work.
I want to work together. Let’s see how it’s going to work. I think we’ll keep talking, and I think maybe after this fight [we will sign a new contract].
They will. After the dog’s breakfast that the UFC made of the women’s featherweight division debut, they can’t afford to have the best female fighter in the sport walk to Invicta or RIZIN.
