UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway lost to Conor McGregor via decision at UFC Fight Night 26 on August 17, 2013. Since then he has gone on a twelve-fight win streak, capped by winning the interim championship, unifying it, and defending it. McGregor lot the featherweight belt without ever defending it, and moved up to lightweight, where he is about the lose the belt without ever defending it. And McGregor continues to taunt Holloway on the social network.
During a recent appearance on Ariel Helwani’s The MMA Hour, ‘Blessed’ was not impressed.
The guy keeps jabbing at me and jabbing at me, said Holloway, as transcribed by Ryan Harkness for MMA Mania. And every time I reply they’re like, ‘Why are you doing this? Why are you replying?’ I’m like, ‘Did you guys ever get picked on? You guys like getting picked on? Stand up for your damn self.’ Then the one time I finally — this guy goes and throws a juicy underhand pitch, I take a swing at it and hit it out of the park, and everybody’s all salty. They’re like, ‘Aw, you’re looking for a money.’
I ain’t looking for a money fight. This guy’s been trying to bully me the whole time. He’s enjoying his retired life, talking about all this kind of wild stuff, and then the one time I attack him, you guys get on me. Get out of here with that stuff. I know what’s on the timetable, and the timetable right now is Ortega, so that’s my full focus.
Holloway is recovering from a training injury, will know in about a month if his rehab without surgery is working, and when he is ready to fight, will face the surging Brian Ortega.
McGregor is fighting who knows, who knows when.
