UFC 206 took place Saturday, December 10th in Toronto, Canada and the main card aired exclusively on PPV. The main event featured an interim featherweight title fight for Max Hollaway, who was riding a nine fight win streak inside the Octagon. His opponent, Anthony Pettis, was ineligible to win the title due to missing weight.

Pettis a former lightweight champion who recently moved to the featherweight division, but missed the title weight by three pounds, weighing at 148 lbs.

The first round was back and forth and with neither fighter landing any big strikes. After the round ended, Pettis walked back to his corner shaking his and, telling his corner that he thought his hand was broken. Hollaway landed the most significant strike to start the second round, dropping Pettis to the mat:

The third round saw Pettis and Hollaway work technically back and forth with nothing super significant landing. Pettis fought with a lot of kicks at distance, but Hollaway seemed to start taking over and was definitely the fresher fighter. In the second round, he also nailed a super nice foot sweep:

Hollaway landed another foot sweep near the end of the third and after standing up, unloading on Pettis ending the fight by TKO.

Official Result: Max Hollaway defeated Anthony Pettis by TKO (Strikes, Round 3, 4:50)

The bout’s eventuality seemed to be determined in the opening round, when Pettis broke his right hand on a punch. The wily Pettis managed to make a fight of it well into the third round, doing the best to use his kicks to stay in the fight.

But fighting a competitor as dynamic as Holloway is a tall enough task even with two good hands. And Holloway poured it on in the third, landing kicks and punches and eventually forcing Pettis to cover up for the finishing flurry.

With the victory, Holloway has now won 10 in a row. He’s the sixth fighter in UFC history with a double-digit win streak, joining Anderson Silva, Georges-St Pierre, Jon Jones, Demetrious Johnson and Royce Gracie.
