Dan Henderson’s coach for Muay Thai and MMA striking Daniel Woirin revealed exclusively to Fighters Only today that the injury to Dan Henderson’s knee happened three weeks ago, when he tried to defend a takedown in a training.

Henderson’s team had to convince the 41 year-old fighter not to perform and also confirmed that they have been told Henderson will get another title shot as soon as he is completely recovered from the injury.

It was very difficult for him to refuse the fight,” said Woirin. “All the team had to convince him not to do it.”

We did a final sparring yesterday to evaluate his condition and he really didn’t have the chance to fight with Jones. It is so depressing for everybody. Many things are involved in a high-level fight like this one, but unfortunately, this happened.”
