The Henderson vs. Emelianenko fight anticipated for July is still in the negotiating-with-crazy-Russians stage. There is a sticking point. the Russians are proposing a catchweight of 220, while Henderson’s camp wants a straight Heavyweight bout. It is a mystery why the Russians would be concerned about a weigh disparity with someone who fought last year at 185, all the more so given that Fedor has taken out 350 pound Hong Man Choi and 390 pound Zuluzinho among other giants.

That fight is not confirmed, it’s not by any means, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said recently on MMAWeekly Radio. I would say let’s be cautious on how we frame that up. If that’s the $25 million dollar question, I would say until it’s finished, it’s never done.”

You know how many things can possibly go wrong in trying to get that fight together. We’re doing our best, but the devil’s in the details. When you have a fight of that quality at that catchweight, it’s like I said, the details are always the challenges in that.

I’m working really hard to try to make that happen.
