Boetsch, an honorable mention in USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie’s MMA middleweight rankings, came out swinging with wide punches, hoping to retire the former PRIDE champ, Strikeforce champ and two-time UFC title contender. Instead, he walked straight into a right hand that crumpled him.
Henderson quickly capitalized, firing a knee that caught Boetsch’s jaw and sent him to the canvas, where he took several unanswered punches that forced referee John McCarthy to intervene. It was the seventh knockout stoppage on the night and followed a streak of six straight KO endings.
Obviously I can’t feel bad about that one, Henderson said afterward. It’s nice when I say I’m not done and nobody believes me, it feels great.
