Helwani loses credentials, escorted from building

One of the top journalists in the game, Ariel Helwani, had his credentials removed and he was escorted from the building, right before the main event.

UFC 199 was on paper a solid card, with the main event a forgone conclusion. But you never know what is going to happen in mixed martial arts, which is why you have the fight. UFC 199 was tremendous – every fight told a story that ran from compelling, to captivating, to HOLY F@$%ING $#!^.

Outside the Octagon there was a thus far inexplicable occurrence – one of the top journalists in the game, Ariel Helwani, had his credentials removed and he was escorted from the building, right before the main event.

No official reason has been given for the removal, but it is widely believed to be Helwani’s reporting that Brock Lesnar was in likelihood signed to fight at UFC 200, which was published many hours before the official announcement. In time, the reason for the ejection should be confirmed or revealed, but at first glance, to borrow from The Greatest, grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand, Ali beat people up, and reporters report. There isn’t anything objectionable in any of that.
