Heavyweight title will be held off until March
Fabricio Werdum’s first title defense will be a rematch against Cain Velasquez, but yesterday it was revealed the fight won’t happen until March of 2016.
Last month the UFC confirmed that Fabricio Werdum’s first title defense would be a rematch against Cain Velasquez, but yesterday it was revealed the fight won’t happen until March of 2016:
UFC president Dana White said in the post-fight press conference Saturday that the heavyweight title fight between champion Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez likely will not happen until March. White said “that’s when Werdum wants to fight.”
“Unfortunately this heavyweight division is tied up right now and the fight won’t happen probably until March, the next heavyweight fight,” White said. “We’ll see how this thing plays out and we’ll go from there.”
