Gustafsson goads Jones over injured eye
Alexander Gustafsson: “Jon Jones, really sorry for the deep cut I gave you in our last fight. At least you will have a memory from me every time someone opens it up for you.”

When UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones cut his eye in training, he went out of his way to not that it was different from the cut he received in the fight with Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165 on September 21, 2013.
FYI this is a completely different scar than the one I had in that area previously, they’re not even touching.
However, as Jones presumably anticipated, Gustafsson took the opportunity to goad Jones.
@jonnybones, really sorry for the deep cut I gave you in our last fight. At least you will have a memory from me every time someone opens it up for you. To not make your other eye jealous for not having a cut, I promise to leave a memory on that one as well next time we fight. Now, take care
Jones responded with the truth.
Jon Bones Jones @JonnyBones
•Yes Alex you cut me but you didn’t win the fight. Focus on things you can control like recovery. You had your chance
•Now please stop with the media stunts so I can focus on my next victim. thank you.
Jones is right here, and Gustafsson is wrong. Trash talking is a necessary part of the fight world, as it so effectively puts asses in seats. However, trash talk about a fighter’s injury is poor sportsmanship, and entirely unnecessary.
