Long, long ago, before there was a social network, there lived three fighters, named Chuck, Tito, and Randy. They called each other names at press conferences, and then it was written about in Full Contact Fighter, a thing called a “magazine”. Eventually, the three retired.

Or did they?

In any case, a new trio, Daniel ‘DC’ Cormier, Alexander ‘Gus’ Gustafsson, and Jon ‘WTF’ Jones have come to dominate the division, and now they bicker bitterly on Twitter. It’s human nature that if you put three beings in a place, two will gang up on one. Most recently, arch rivals Cormier and Jones squared up digitally vs. Gustafsson.

It began when Gustafsson took a diglet at Cormier, referring vaguely to fighters “talking about retirement.”

DC was not impressed.

Then Gustafsson replied.

Then Jones piped up.

Then Gustafsson replied with a not too subtle reference to horse meat.

And that stirred up a three-part combo from ‘Bones’.

Sadly, although Chuck, Tito, and Randy fought each other, the light heavyweight division is stuck at present. Cormier is moving up to fight heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. Jones awaits the outcome of another USADA investigation. And Gustafsson just signed the best contract of his career; a title eliminator is likely next for ‘The Mauler’.
