GSP still thinking about coming back
George St-Pierre: “I train, I keep myself in shape. .. It doesn’t mean I’m coming back, but it doesn’t mean I’m not coming back. I’m thinking about it.”
UFC president Dana White recently appeared on Fox Sports’ Jay & Dan Podcast, and discussed the possibilitof former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre returning to the Octagon.
“I offered him a fight in Montreal, and he said ‘I’m not ready yet,”” said White. “I’m on the fence, I’m leaning toward he’s not coming back these days.”
In an Internet era version of The Telephone Game, by the time the remarks reached the fighter’s cauliflower ears, they had changed some.
He says he’s sure I won’t come back, that’s his opinion, said St-Pierre to Stéphane Cadorette for the Winnipeg Sun. I train, I keep myself in shape. I have marks on my body because my body bruises easily and I’m training hard.
Still, the UFC’s Hamlet remains undecided.

Dana always does what’s good for the business side. I was never angry at him. On the contrary, he had a good reason to say that to come back, you have to be hungry.
One of the conditions GSP has cited as crucial to his return is comprehensive, random, out of competition testing for performance enhancing drugs.
On Feb 18 the UFC announced a series of measures to clean up the world’s dominant MMA league.
“Were going to move a lot faster than baseball did,” said UFC president Dana White. “They’re hitting a ball with a stick. Who cares?”
“You have two human beings, who go in and compete jn combat sports. And if one is using performance enhancing drugs, it’s incredibly dangerous. I hate it. I hate everything about it. If you can’t compete, based on your natural abilities, you don’t belong here.”
The policy involves some complex legal and contractual issues, and will begin July 1st. Montreal’s newspapers are notorious for inflammatory quotes taken out of context or even manufactured, so these remarks should perhaps be taken with a grain of salt.
So far, there’s been some nice words, but nothing’s been done, said St-Pierre. As long as they do nothing, I for sure won’t come back.
GSP also said that right now he is focused on helping Rory MacDonald win his old title.
What would give me the most pleasure is to see Rory take the title, he said. I feel like I would have accomplished something new. My duty is to help him up. Right now, I am where I am, and if it had to end, I ended at the top. I ever want to go back, I’d snap my fingers and it wouldn’t be too hard to get back in fighting form.?
