GSP: I was not and am not looking for McGregor fight
GSP: “I was just there because of the meeting. I didn’t have any plan of doing anything towards Conor McGregor.”

Rumors have floated for many months that Georges St-Pierre has a grand plan to become the undisputed G.O.A.T. He’s already universally acknowledged as the greatest welterweight in the sport’s history, so that division is set. Now he is facing Michael Bisping for the middleweight belt at UFC 217. Winning there would make him one of just three fighters to win belts in two divisions, Randy Couture, BJ Penn, and Conor McGregor being the others. According to this rumor, the next stop is a fight with McGregor. A win there and nobody does it better ever.
The rumor appeared to gain some credence when GSP showed up at UFC 196: McGregor vs. Diaz. However, during a recent interview with ESPN, St-Pierre said that he doesn’t think fighting down in weight will do much for his legacy.
I showed up at the fight because Lorenzo Fertitta asked me to come and show up because my agent was in negotiations with the UFC, said GSP as transcribed Jed Meshew for MMA Fighting. He wanted me to be there. I don’t know if he had something else behind his head, I was just there because of the meeting. I didn’t have any plan of doing anything towards Conor McGregor. We don’t compete in the same weight class.
Everything is possible but everybody is targeting Conor McGregor because the money. He’s the money fight. But I don’t challenge guys that compete in lower weight class divisions. For me, I don’t do that. I’m going up to fight Michael Bisping now. I’m looking up.
He’s an amazing fighter, it would be an amazing honor, but I don’t know. I don’t know what to say. If the fans want it and he wants it maybe it will happen but right now, I’m focused on Bisping.
Georges St-Pierre fight UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping in the main event of UFC 217 on November 4. in Madison Square Garden, New Yrk City, New York.
